Prof. Piotr Chłosta, Ph.D

Head of the Department of Urology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Since 2015, the President of the Polish Urological Association (PTU).

A graduate of the G. Bacewicz Music School in Wrocław (violin major), as well as the Medical Faculty of the Wroclaw Medical University. A surgeon and a specialist in the field of urology. Since 2008, the chairman of the PTU Endourology Section, and during the years 2002 – 2014, PTU delegate to the European Board of Urology. In the years 2004 - 2012, a provincial consultant in the field of urology for the Świętokrzyskie Province. Visiting professor at Universitätsklinikum für Urologie Carl Gustav Carus Dresden.

The main fields of scientific and professional interest of prof. P. Chłosta are: oncological urology, endourology, laparoscopic urology and teaching with the focus on the urology. He is the author or co-author of over 250 scientific works published in peer-reviewed medical journals in Poland and abroad. He has also written many chapters for various medical books. Professor Piotr Chłosta is a co-editor and co-author of the first Urologic Laparoscopy Atlas in Poland. He has introduced, to the Polish urology, a number of innovative operating methods and original modifications of several commonly used methods of surgical treatment. In the past, as a student of professor Andrzej Borówka, the Head of the Urology Clinic of the Świętokrzyskie Center of Oncology and an associate professor at the Urology Clinic of the Medical Center of Postgraduate Education, he developed a minimally invasive biopsy method applicable to advanced bladder cancer, as well as co-created and implemented the method of percutaneous cystolithography (PCCL) in treatment of patients with bladder stones.
