Professor in Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa. He holds the Sarah Turoff Endowed Chair in Schizophrenia Research. Prof. Emsley obtained his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town in 1974 and my psychiatry degree (MMed) at the University of Stellenbosch in 1981, then he received a Doctorate in Medicine in 1987 and a Doctor of Science degree in 2007 for studies in the psychopathology, neurobiology and psychopharmacology of schizophrenia. Prof. Emsley main area of interest is in the neurobiology and psychopharmacology of schizophrenia. His group has published widely in this field. He serves on the Editorial Board of several journals, including Schizophrenia Research, Early Intervention in Psychiatry and npj Schizophrenia and I am Editor of the Elsevier Schizophrenia Research Resource Centre website.
