Ewa Małecka-Panas obtained a Ph.D from the Department of Digestive Tract Diseases and Metabolic Disorders Medical School in Łódź, Poland in 1988 and habilitation thesis in 1997.Her research interests focus on pancreatic cancer, biomarkers, risk factors, early detection of pancreatogenic diabetes, endocrine pancreatic function impairment and metabolic alterations in chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. Since 2001 she is the Head of the Department of Digestive Tract Diseases, Medical University, Lodz, Poland and in 2002 she was awarded a full professorship. She is an author of numerous textbooks and textbook chapters and over 260 original papers. She was the President of European Pancreatic Club in 2007-2008.She is Editorial Board Member for European Gastroenterology & Hepatology Review, „Gastroenterologia Praktyczna“,“Gastroenterologia Polska“ and Vice Editor for “Gastroenterology Review”. She is also the Management Committee member for COST Action BM1204: "An integrated European Platform for pancreas cancer research“ and the President of the Committe for the Polish Centers Accreditation for Gastroenterology Training. She contributes to PANDoRa (the PANcreatic Disease ReseArch) and GRAP” study groups.
