Elżbieta Senkus-Konefka, MD, PhD, is a graduate of the Medical University of Gdańsk. Since 1991 she has been employed at the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy of the Medical University of Gdańsk. She is a specialist in the field of oncological radiotherapy and clinical oncology. She specializes in the treatment of breast cancer and cancers of the urogenital system. Her scientific interests include molecular mechanisms of breast cancer in patients from high-risk groups.
She is involved in the creation of national and international standards for the treatment of breast cancer. She is the author of over 100 scientific reports and several chapters in textbook and a member of the Scientific Boards of several oncological journals, the Specialist Editor of The Breast, a member of the ESMO Faculty in the field of breast cancer and the Polish representative in the European Commission Expert Group on Cancer Control.
She has two sons (20 and 18 years old). Other out-of-work interests are tourism, horseback riding, alpine skiing and jewellery design.
