Prof. Dariusz Wołowiec, PhD, MD., is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, Medical University (nowadays University of Medical Sciences) of Wroclaw. He graduated in 1983, in 1989 he was awarded a PhD degree, in 1997 a higher doctorate degree of habilitation, and in 2005 the title of Professor of Medical Sciences. Since graduation he has been working as a lecturer at the Department of Hematology, Blood Neoplasms and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the Medical University of Wroclaw, holding the position of a Professor. In 1985-87 and 1992-1995 he completed scientific internships at Hematology Centers of Nantes and Lyon (France), leading to a doctoral degree at the University of Lyon-1. He held a degree in statistics and methodology of clinical and epidemiological studies, obtaining a diploma of Maîtrise de Sciences et biologiques Medicales in 1995, issued by the Faculty of Medicine of University of Paris-Sud/University of Paris XI.
Since 2000 he has been collaborating with the University of Lille 2 (France), giving lectures annually for students of the Faculty of Dentistry. In 2003-2004 he was the director of the Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Wroclaw. Since 2004 he has been the Chairman of the Social Council of the Lower Silesian Centre for Cellular Transplantation with National Polish Bone Marrow Donor Registry in Wrocław, and since 2011 the chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in Warsaw. In 2014-2016, he was a national consultant in the field of hematology. He is the author or co-author of numerous articles in scientific journals of national and international level, and reports on national and international congresses devoted to various aspects of clinical and experimental hematology, especially cancer pathology of the lymphatic system. He is also a scientific editor of a textbook, the author of several chapters in the publishing company and a supervisor of 5 completed PhD degrees. He was repeatedly a reviewer of the works submitted for publication in national and international journals, as well as a reviewer of PhD and habilitation dissertations and applications for academic titles.
